Polyamide 1012, also known as PA 1012 or Nylon 1012, arises from the polymerization process involving hexamethylene diamine and dodecanedioic acid. This material exhibits a milky white to pale yellow translucent appearance, blending the best attributes of nylon 6 and nylon 12. Nylon 6 adds a heightened melting point and improved short-term thermal stability, while nylon 12 brings low water uptake, remarkable UV and chemical stability, effective resistance to hydrolysis and zinc chloride, as well as exceptional flexibility. Nylon 1012 is adaptable to a wide range of standard manufacturing processes. Its versatility extends to applications such as fuel hoses, pneumatic tubing, flexible connectors, automotive coolant lines, and various injection-molded components.
This versatile material can be extensively utilized across several industries, including automotive, machinery manufacturing (such as oil containers and textile machinery components), and electronics for producing battery casings and instrument rails. Additionally, it is suitable for making toothbrush bristles, monofilaments, and cable coverings. The material can be tailored to meet specific customer needs for injection molding and extrusion grades.
