PLA is thermoplastic and can be processed into films, sheets, and fibers using the same processes used to process plastics. PLA can be soft or hard. It is transparent by itself, but it can also be made into an opaque material, and fillers can be added. Because of its high strength, it can be made into very thin sheets. PLA is insoluble in water and has good water resistance and oil resistance.
After blending and toughening, PLA can replace the original membrane bag products, such as shopping bags, garbage bags and agricultural mulch. Commonly formulated systems include biodegradable polymer materials such as PBS or PBAT, which can be completely degraded under composting conditions to minimize soil pollution.
Because of its non-toxic and good mechanical properties, PLA is suitable for processing into a variety of food packaging.
PLA has many applications in extrusion, injection molding, film drawing, spinning and other fields.
