Polyamide 1012 (PA 10120, Nylon 1012) is synthesized through the polymerization process involving hexamethylene diamine and dodecanedioic acid. This nylon variant appears as a milky white to light yellow translucent solid, merging the superior properties of both nylon 6 and nylon 12. Nylon 6 contributes a higher melting point and superior short-term temperature resistance, while nylon 12 provides low water absorption, excellent UV and chemical resistance, good hydrolysis and zinc chloride resistance, as well as high flexibility. Nylon 1012 can be manufactured using most conventional processing techniques. Typical uses for nylon 610 include fuel lines, air lines, hoses and tubes, quick connectors, automotive cooling systems, and various injection molded components.
